Regarding South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s “Why I Won’t Support Legalizing Hemp” (op-ed, Sept. 10): I believe Gov. Noem needs to enhance her staff’s research capability. We are cannabis growers in Oregon and use a tool called Purpl PRO, sold by Purpl Scientific. I’m sure there are other such tools available. It costs about $1,500, and we find it to be accurate within acceptable tolerances. After we test our cannabis for THC potency, independent labs test the product before it is put on the shelf. The device is hand-held, gives results within minutes and can be used in the field. Problem solved.
